So I’m taking a break from work.

Before I left for my trip to Bega, which was a very quick one indeed, I posted about that new guy coming in.

The first night he stayed I was surprised when we offered the Irishman a beer and he said he didn’t want one, then he just stayed in his room and watched TV and called to his girlfriend or wife or something back in Eire.

So anyway, I got up well before dark and drove down the coast. While I was gone I sure missed some action. Apparently he got pissed as and brought home what Jake described as “a real slapper”.

After she had gone home……”waddya mean I have to catch a taxi ya bastard, it’s gonna be like twenty seven bucks”….then he called to his wife….

Before I got home Francisca had given him his marching orders, and that was the end of the chapter of the Irishman. Although apparently he has broken something on the curtain in the room. In just a couple of days, onya…

When I went on my little trip, I have this ipod which is reaching its dying days. So I had that, but then I bought another cheap mp3 player. Somewhere near Cooma the ipod ran out of juice, so I plugged in the other one.

First song on was thanks to Frenzal Rhomb- You Can’t Move Into My House

And I’ve tried with all my might to see past
all you failing but I’ve failed to give a fuck
You’re a fuck-up, you’re a joke,
You’re a clown, take your pants down,
Get fucked you fucking fuckwit
no you can’t move into my house.

I don’t think anything could be more appropriate.

I’ve been in Perth for about 5 days, flew here on Wednesday night from Sydney. We go back again this Wednesday so there’s only a couple of days left.

Went to No Sleep Til yesterday. It was pretty good, a long day though. I don’t think I will go to too many more festivals for quite some time, not in Australia anyway.

So things kicked off with Break Even, I think that’s 8 times I’ve seen them this year, mostly in different states/countries. The funny thing with most of those shows is that I just went to see them because I was already in that city anyway.

Let me think..

I saw them 2 x w/Polar Bear Club and The Gifthorse in Brisbane, saw them once in Sydney when they played in a park, saw them in Canberra with Miles Away on that tour, saw them when I was in London, saw them 2 x with Alexisonfire (Sydney, Melbourne) and now have seen them in Perth. If there was one band to look back upon 2010, I guess that would be the one for me.

So I stood in the front row, that was the only shade, suprisingly not that many people were singing along etc, they are a Perth band after all, but they were pretty good, they sounded alright for such a big stage.

House v Hurricane were on next, they were ok, I liked them heaps more than the last time I saw them…they suit that big stage because there’s a lot of them, and they’re very energetic.

Katatonia were on next, I was kind of surprised with their sound, it just sounds like the Opeth album Damnation (the soft one)…I thought they would be a lot heavier actually.

We went and found some shade somewhere else for a while, I saw a song of Suicide Silence, what a shithouse band. That entire “deathcore” genre is so crap.

Got a good spot for Frenzal, they were great, as per usual. They really are a classic festival band, so many festivals I went to many, many years ago had Frenzal Rhomb as a highlight, nothing has changed there.

Watched August Burns Red, they were pretty good, but nothing exciting, NOFX were pretty good too, “sorry Megadeth fans, but our songs are better than all metal songs, ever”.

Watched GWAR…what a fucking weird, weird band. Woah.

Then I watched Megadeth for a while, and all I could think was “wow, I’m glad they kicked this guy out of Metallica”. So at the same time Parkway Drive were playing, and to note how far they’ve come, there were probably more people watching them than Megadeth.

We went into the bar area, Parkway have such a good control over the crowd. I didn’t really know a lot of the new stuff, and I kinda forgot a lot of the old stuff, I used to listen to them all the time.

So then once it was over we went to the hostel and back to bed. Going up to a place called Lancelin which is a little coastal village tonight, then back to Perth tomorrow, fly to Sydney the next day.

I also saw Eleventh He Reaches London with My Disco on Saturday night, they were really good. Wasn’t so into My Disco actually though.

Summer’s Here

Tim and Candy getting sandy
down at the beach but he’s a leach
He’s all bleached blonde white teeth, nothing wrong
she’s got a brain
it’s causing her pain

John’s with Kim but she likes Tim
she only wants sex but she’s with his ex
She wants more, thinks life is a bore the shore’s not enough
the guys are too tough

Summer’s here the rain has gone away
Summer’s here all thinking’s gone ‘til May

Tim and John swear nothing’s going on
It’s a god given right on a Saturday night
Two drinks later John becomes a traitor
it’s always the same everybody’s fair game

Summer’s here put the top down and drive
Summer’s here now we’re being burnt alive

Bleached bland, polluted sand, there’s nowhere to go, dull eyes so low
Tim, John, Candy, Kim, let’s not pretend, that’s it for them
If you dig a little deeper, an hour, 4-litres, the truth does reveal
we cannot conceal
It’s written plain and plenty, a face full of envy in all of our
thoughts and all of our hearts

Summer, discontent
Summer’s here put the top down and drive
Summer’s here now we’re being burnt alive
Summer’s here and we’re almost naked
Our tan is deep but no-one knows we’ve faked it
